Nestled deep in the lush highlands of northern Bali, Sekumpul Waterfall is widely considered the most beautiful waterfall on the island. Located in the quiet village of Sekumpul in Buleleng Regency, this breathtaking natural wonder offers visitors a true escape into Bali’s untouched tropical landscape.

A Natural Masterpiece in Northern Bali

Unlike many waterfalls that consist of a single stream, Sekumpul Waterfall is actually a collection of multiple waterfalls cascading down steep cliffs surrounded by dense jungle. The name “Sekumpul” means “a group” in Indonesian, perfectly describing the series of seven narrow falls that create a dramatic and magical panorama.

The waterfalls vary in height and flow, especially during the rainy season (November–March), when the water volume becomes stronger and more impressive. Some streams fall gracefully like silk ribbons, while others crash powerfully into the rocky pools below.

The Journey to Sekumpul Waterfall

Reaching Sekumpul is an adventure in itself. From popular tourist areas like Ubud or Seminyak, the drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The route passes through scenic mountain roads, traditional villages, and beautiful rice terraces.

After arriving at the entrance, visitors must hike down a steep path with hundreds of steps. The trek also includes crossing small rivers and walking through tropical forests. While the hike can be challenging, the reward at the end is absolutely worth it.

Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the path can be slippery, especially after rain.

Meal Package: Combination packages of entrance tickets and meals at the Hanging Restaurant are available starting from IDR 100,000+.

Route: The journey from the parking lot takes 30-40 minutes, with downhill terrain and river crossings.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Sekumpul Waterfall is during the dry season (April–October), when the trails are safer and the weather is more predictable. Early morning visits are recommended to avoid crowds and enjoy peaceful surroundings.

If you visit during the rainy season, the waterfalls become more powerful and dramatic, but extra caution is needed due to slippery paths and stronger currents.
